My heart overflows with a good theme;
I address my verses to the King;
My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
— Psalm 45:1 (NASB)
I am reminded of Psalm 45 often these days.
Reading it again and again, I am meditating on the caliber to which the revelation of God’s love has been shed abroad into every part of me and affected every expression from within me.
The poetry and artwork and songs that come from out of me change as the intimacy of my relationship with Jesus deepens.
Soft. His love softened me.
In the garden of my heart, Jesus has tilled the earth — soft, rich, moist soil. I look back to what was with grace-filled eyes and remember all the hard patches and tough spots that He worked with His hands, laboring on my behalf.
The Word is the seed my garden needs.
